CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS OF ANTIBODY DEFICIENCY
KEY CONCEPTS
About a fifth of patients with antibody deficiency due to common variable immune deficiency develop autoimmune disorders. These include autoimmune hamatological disorders (hemolytic anemia, autoimmune thrombocytopenia, pernicious anemia), autoimmune endocrinopathies (eg thyroid disease) or neurological disease such as Guilland Barre syndrome, and, rarely, a lupus like syndrome.
