Pediatric kidney transplantation part 86

How is CMV diagnosed?

CMV is most commonly diagnosed through blood tests that can detect even very tiny quantities of CMV circulating in the blood. Occasionally, blood test may be negative if the body has limited the infection to one region of the body, In these cases, tests of specific tissue (such as intestinal biopsy) may be needed to confirm the diagnosis.
