Using this method, a wide variety of proteins serum, amniotic fluid, cerebrospinal fluid, saliva, and gastrointestinal juices can be determined. The method includes a wide range of immune reactants, acute phase proteins, and tumor markers. Standard preparations are used and have been calibrated against international World Health Organization standards. These tests primarily use polyclonal antibodies for each antigen since monoclonal antibodies do not form immune precipitates because there are too few relevant epitopes.
