Immunological aspects of immunodeficiency diseases part 27

ICOS (inducible-co-stimulating receptor) is a co stimulatory T-cell molecule that induces cytokines required for supporting class-switch recombination, Ig production and terminal B-cell differentiation. ICOS -/- and ICOS ligand -/- mice exhibit defective germinal center formation and antibody production. Mutations in the ICOS gene account for about 1 percent of CVID patients.
