Scientists believe that issues derived from embryonic and adult stem cells may differ in the likehood of being rejected after transplantation. We don't yet know for certain whether tissues derived from embryonic stem cells would cause transplant rejection, since relatively few clinical trials have tested the safety of transplanted cells derived from human embryonic stem cells.
