Management of infection in haemodialysis patient part 4





Considerations in the potentially infected haemodialysis patient

Symptoms:
  • The patient has complained of abdominal pain
  • If still passing urine, is the amount the same or less? Have they had any pain passsing urine or noticed change in colour or odour?
  • The patient has had  a cough, earache, a sore throat or symptoms of cold within the last 2 days
  • The patient is short of breath
  • The patient is off their food and lost their appetite
  • The patient has complained of diarrhoea or vomitting within the last 2 days
  • The patient has been suffering from chills, fever or frank rigours
  • The patient has noticed a rash or any other skin abnormalities
  • The patient is complaining of unspecified weakness
  • The patient appears confused, disorientated or their mental state appear to have deteriorated
