Considerations in the potentially infected haemodialysis patient
Symptoms:
- The patient has complained of abdominal pain
- If still passing urine, is the amount the same or less? Have they had any pain passsing urine or noticed change in colour or odour?
- The patient has had a cough, earache, a sore throat or symptoms of cold within the last 2 days
- The patient is short of breath
- The patient is off their food and lost their appetite
- The patient has complained of diarrhoea or vomitting within the last 2 days
- The patient has been suffering from chills, fever or frank rigours
- The patient has noticed a rash or any other skin abnormalities
- The patient is complaining of unspecified weakness
- The patient appears confused, disorientated or their mental state appear to have deteriorated
