Management of infection in haemodialysis patient part 5





Considerations in the potentially infected haemodialysis patient

Observations:
  • The patient has arrived more than 0,5 kg below their dry weight
  • Respirations are either <10 or >25 per minute
  • Blood pressure at the beginning of dialysis or during the session is <100mmHg systolic or significantly reduced for them
  • Pulse is <50 or >110 beats per minutes or significantly different to usual observations
  • Temperature is<35,5ºC or >37,1ºC
  • Observed rigours
  • Oxygen saturations are>95% on air
  • Blood sugar level is>7,7 mmol/L (in non diabetic's)
