Hypertension is  both a cause of chronic kidney disease and a complication of chronic kidney disease and can be difficult to control. The risks of uncontrolled hypertension include progression of kidney disease and increased risk of coronary heart disease and stroke. Hypertension should be considered as part of absolute cardiovaskular risk
