Adhesion molecules are composed of a diverse set of cell-surface glycoproteins and play a pivotal role in mediating cell-to-cell adhesion. Adhesion molecules are divided into four major groups:

• Integrins
• Selectins
• Immunoglobulin superfamily
• Caherins
