SELECTINS

These molecules are composed of three glycoproteins and are designated by thee separate prefixes:
  • E (endothelial)
  • P (platelet)
  • L (leucocyte)
The letters denote the cells on which they were first observed. These groups of selectins bind avidly to carbohydrate molecules on leucocytes and endothelial cells.
