Basic components of the immune system part 65

The major function of the complement system is to help in the opsonization of microorganisms and immune complexes. These components plus antibody are more readily recognized by macrophages and more readily bound and phagocytosed through IgG: Fc and C3b receptors. Immune complexes are handled in similar fashion, activating the classical pathway complements.Individuals who lack one of the classical pathway components are prone to immune complex disease.
