Pelvic inflammatory diseases

Pelvic inflammatory disease is a very serious infection. It increases your risk of developing a pregnancy outside the uterus (ectopic pregnancy) and of not being able to have children. The outcome depends on the following:

• How long have you been infected and how much the pelvic inflammatory disease has spread
• Proper and early treatment
• The number of pelvic inflammatory diseases infections you have had
